The Bee and the Bud

Hi. I'm Sarah. I'm a wetland scientist during the day, but dream of a career in the creative world. When I'm not wearing CarHartts and muddy boots, I enjoy eating fancy meals with my husband, searching for and creating beautiful things, and baking desserts. Send me a message: lacysc@gmail.com

  2. Although this flight delay to North Dakota is really cutting into my bedtime - I must be out the door by 5:30 tomorrow morning - I am enjoying the SSR (sustained silent reading). Hitch-22. This book makes me feel slighted that AHS never made me take a world history class.

  6. Just received the mid-race/finish line photos of myself from the half marathon I ran on Saturday.  I am NOT a cute runner.

  8. Update

    - Daniel and I bought porch furniture, and it is our best purchase yet.  So much lounging and book reading and mimosa drinking.

    - I ran the Rock the Parkway half marathon on Saturday with my good friend Kristen. It was my best race yet and my first race without knee pain.  Super grateful to Kristen for the great conversation and motivation.  Many (not all) of the miles just flew by.

    - I was in Arkansas (near Bentonville) last week walking a future power line right-of-way in search of streams and wetlands.  The highlight was probably the “African” safari we visited (a few pictures to come).  Two weeks ago, an ostrich got loose and crushed a guy’s ribs.  The guy took refuge in a tree for over an hour before he could call 911.  We were escorted through the area due do a “homicidal camel.”  Those were the landowner’s words.  For the record, I’m not really a fan of wild animal kingdoms in the US.  I even struggle with zoos.

    - My rhododendrons are blooming.  Pinks and purples.

    - Currently in the middle of Season 4 of The Wire.  I’m enjoying the political stuff.  I’d like to put Marlo and his crew in a vacant.

  10. Art. I’ve decided to specialize in 2-D ink under watercolor. Just me, the drawing skills of an eight-year-old and 24 Crayola watercolors. Rock on.
